Nicolaos Gysis or Gyzis Nikolaos (born on March 1, 1842 in Sklavochorion Tinos, Greece, died on 4 January 1901 in Munich) was a Greek monumental-genre painter. Gyzis was born the son of a carpenter, and his wife Margarita Onoufrios, born Psalti. From 1850 he attended primary school in the Athenes’ quarter Karamanos, with a particular fondness for drawing lessons. Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou known as Vangelis (born March 29, 1943) is a recognized composer, his music was considered new age or electronic.
